Charles Mann Photography Wins American Horse Publication Awards

(June 21, 2004—Adelphi, MD) Charles Mann Photography brought home a camera bag full of awards from the 2004 American Horse Publications Annual Awards in Lexington, Kentucky, June 12, 2004. The awards were for articles and photos published in 2003. 

Charlie Mann’s photo from the August 2003 cover of Paint Horse Journal took third place in the Magazine Cover Page, Circulation 15,000 and Over category among a field of 28 entries. According to the judge, it was a “Very eye-catching cover. The photo is especially nice.” 

A photo from the same shoot took first place in the Open Color Editorial Photograph category in the August 2003 issue of Paint Horse Journal out of 15 entries. The judge said, “I enjoy this image. It’s simple, interesting and it asks questions – it makes me want to know the story.” 

In addition, Charlie’s photo contributions helped net Eventing USA a third place in the Event Coverage category. The photos were published in the November/December 2003 issue to accompany a story on the Pan-American Games Eventing Championship. 

On the editorial side, office manager Stacey Nedrow-Wigmore, took home a third place for her article, “It’s Hip to Be Square” that appeared in the February 2003 issue of Dressage Today magazine. The article was entered in the Instructional Single Article category, and was selected out of 27 entries. In addition, Charlie’s photos accompanied the article. 

CMP associate Arnd Bronkhorst of the Netherlands also brought home his own stash of awards. His photo that appeared on the March 2003 cover of Horse Connection magazine took second place in the Magazine Cover Page category. In addition, he took third place in the Open Color Editorial Photograph category with his image that appeared in the September 2003 issue of Equus.
