Quick Start Guide for Using Around The Barn Volume 1
MACINTOSH OS 10.x
1. Insert the AroundTheBarn1 CD into your computer's CD/DVD drive.
2. Double click the AroundTheBarn1 CD icon on your desktop.
3. Double click "Start_Here.htm."
4. Select "CD License" from the menu at left. Carefully read and understand the
Software License Agreement. At the bottom of the page, select "I Agree," type
your name and click the "Done!" button. At the top of the page, click the
"Return to Main Page" link.
5. Please take a moment to register your copy of AroundTheBarn1 by selecting
"Register" from the menu.
6. Choose the database you'd like to open from the menu. (Low Resolution=200 px
X 300 px, Medium Resolution=1200 px X 1800 px, High Resolution=2700 px X 4100 px).
The Catalogs folder window will appear. Double click on the highlighted file.
7. For additional documentation, select the "FAQ" or "Portfolio Browser Guide"
links from the menu.
MACINTOSH OS 9.x
1. Insert the AroundTheBarn1 CD into your computer's CD/DVD drive.
2. Double click the AroundTheBarn1 CD icon on your desktop.
3. Double click "CDLicense.txt." Carefully read and understand the Software
License Agreement.
4. Please take a moment to register your copy of AroundTheBarn1 by going to the
Web site www.cmannphoto.com/register.
5. Open the file "Catalogs", and select your preferred database (_LO=200 px X
300 px, _MED=1200 px X 1800 px, _HI=2700 px X 4100 px).
6. If Portfolio Browser does not launch and/or you get an error, open the folder
"Portfolio Browser Mac 9.x." Double click "Extensis Portfolio 6 Browser." In the
"File" menu, select "Open Catalog." Open the "AroundTheBarn1" CD, open the
"Catalogs" file and select your preferred database.
7. Another option is to drag the "Start_Here.htm" file to an internet browser
such as Internet Explorer. Follow the instructions in steps 4-6 from the
Macintosh OS 10.x section.

WINDOWS
1. Insert the AroundTheBarn1 CD into your computer's CD/DVD drive. If setup
doesn't start automatically, click the "Start" button at the bottom of the
screen, and then click "Run." Type the drive letter:\AutorunCD.exe and then
click "OK."
(Example: d:\AutorunCD.exe)
2. Choose "Open CD" on the welcome screen.
3. Carefully read and understand the Software License Agreement. Click "Agree"
to continue.
4. Please take a moment to register your copy of AroundTheBarn1 by selecting
"Register Your CD" from the menu. After registering, return to the "File Size
Selection" window.
5. Choose Low Resolution (200 px X 300 px), Medium Resolution (1200 px X 1800 px)
or High Resolution (2700 px X 4100 px) database. (If you are running Windows XP
and receive the "Error Opening File" message, click "Close." Go to "My
Computer," right click on your CD/DVD drive and click "Open." Open the folder
"Portfolio Browser_WIN" and double click "PortBrws.exe" to launch Portfolio
Browser. Once the application starts, the "Open Catalog" window appears. Select
the "Catalogs" folder, then select the preferred catalog file (*.fdb) and click
"Open.")

GENERAL TIPS
For more information on using Portfolio Browser, read the "Using Portfolio
Browser" PDF included in the software folders on the CD. For an FAQ about using

* Search: Type a keyword into the "QuickFind" box at the top of the browser, or
click the "Find" icon for a more advanced search.
* Enlarge Thumbnail: PC--Double click on the image and a larger version will
appear in a separate window. Mac--Ctrl-click on the image and select "Preview"
from the menu.
* Properties/Info: To view an image's description, assigned keywords, file size,
etc., click the "Info" button in the toolbar at the top of the browser.
* Placing Images: Drag a thumbnail from the Portfolio Browser into any
drag-and-drop savvy document such as Microsoft Word or QuarkXPress (with the QX-Drag
& Drop extension present) to place a copy of the image in that document.
